Plaza Bibijagua is located on Bavaro Beach in between IFA Villas Bavaro and Barcelo Bavaro Beach resort. See Map 5.
It’s behind what was formerly Acqua Beach Club (now known as Poseidon). At the beach side entrance there are hair braiding and massage ladies. Inside, on the front part, are numerous stalls selling the usual rum, coffee, cigars, mamajuana, inexpensive jewelry, Punta Cana souvenirs, beach floats and snorkel masks. Read More→

A crowded north coast public beach at Semana Santa

Thurs 21st to Sun 24th April 2011 is taken as holiday by most Dominicans to celebrate “Semana Santa” or Holy Week (Easter Week).
During this holiday period most of the island’s population migrate to the beaches for heavy partying involving copious amounts of rum. Expect areas around public beach access points to be more crowded than usual.

Macao beach in Punta Cana is an undeveloped, public beach around a 20 to 30 minute drive from most resorts. See Maps here and here.

Los Corales detailed map
Los Corales is the area on Bavaro beach between NOW Larimar and Barcelo Dominican Beach Resorts. It’s mostly residential and a popular location for condo rentals but it also has some very good restaurants (Balicana, D’Angelo’s) and shopping facilities. See Los Corales Detailed Map. It’s also one of the public beach access points in Punta Cana.
