Gobecon WiFi rental in Punta Cana
Here’s a great hassle free WiFi rental service that you can use both on and off resort and anywhere on the island where there is 3G connectivity with the service provider Orange – which is pretty much everywhere. And their prices are very competitive – some resorts are charging $US40 for 5 day WiFi which is only usable in the resort lobby! Gobecon are currently (Jan 2014) charging $US29.99 plus tax for one week with discounts available if you purchase more services from them (see their website for details).
You simply reserve and pay for a WiFi device online via their website or direct email (see contact info at the end of this post) and their rep will meet you at Punta Cana airport with your device. Their reps are easy to spot with their bright orange T-shirts. You pay the rep a $US50 refundable deposit and the device is yours for the duration of your stay. The rep will meet you at the airport on your departure day to collect the device and return your deposit. Simple!
You can connect up to 8 of your own WiFi devices (ipads, iphones, androids etc) to one of their pocket sized WiFi units. Or you can rent a smartphone with a local number. But check their website to see what products they are currently offering.
Gobecon are also offering transfer services and excursions which will be bookable via their new mobile app for iPhone and Android. Simply look for gobecon on the App Store and Android market.
You can “chat” to an Online customer service rep via their website during Dominican office hours. There’s also a video on their website explaining their service.
Savy Punta Cana visitors have been using Gobecon’s services since summer 2013 and they have received rave reviews on Trip Advisor. This is definitely a company to watch as we’re sure they’ll be extending their services and products in the future.
