This hotel is part of the Barcelo Bavaro Beach Resort Complex which also includes the following resorts: Barcelo Bavaro Palace Deluxe and Barcelo Bavaro Casino.
But it was not part of the 2010 room renovations.

From 1 May to 23 December 2011 the hotel will also accept families with children.

Water conditions: The water at Bavaro Beach is calm all year round. Strong winds can cause choppy water surface. No significant shorebreak. No surf for boogie boarding here. No rip tides or strong currents. The swim areas in front of the hotels have a sandy bottom.
Snorkeling: nothing much to see near the beach, maybe some small fish. Swimmers must stay inside the roped off swim zone due to heavy, fast boat traffic. Snorkeling tours to the outer reefs, 5 minute boat ride away, are available at the watersports center.
