In recent years various breeds of sea turtles have returned to their nesting grounds on Puntacana Resort & Club’s beaches. On 15th January this year the Puntacana Ecological Foundation Turtle Program was started to promote the conservation of sea turtles in Punta Cana.
On 26th January a baby turtle was found trapped inside some sea trash on the beach at Puntacana Resort & Club. The team from the Puntacana Ecological Foundation were immediately alerted and came to the beach to assess the situation. The little turtle was identified as a Hawksbill (Tortuga Carey in Spanish) a critically endangered species.
